What's the Best Month to Get Married?

Hint: it's probably not the one you think.

Everyone wants October. You already know this. October in Oklahoma City means perfect weather, golden light, and a Saturday booking calendar that fills up before most couples even get engaged.

It's a great month. It's also everyone else's month.

Here's what the wedding industry doesn't advertise: some of the most beautiful weddings we've hosted at Slate happened in June, July, and August.

Oklahoma summers have a reputation. We get it. But twenty floors up, with floor-to-ceiling glass on every side and the air conditioning doing what it was designed to do, summer looks different. The sky turns colors in late July that don't happen any other time of year. The city goes gold at 8pm. The sunset lingers. Your photographer will thank you.

Summer also means more availability — which means more flexibility on your date, and often better rates from every vendor on your list.

The honest breakdown:

Spring (April–May) — Beautiful weather, moderate availability. Book 12–14 months out.

Summer (June–August) — Underrated. Stunning sunsets, real availability, and twenty floors of climate-controlled luxury means the heat stays outside where it belongs. Book 8–10 months out.

Fall (September–October) — Peak season. Perfect weather. Zero availability if you wait. Book 14–18 months out minimum.

Winter (November–January) — Dramatic, elegant, and more available than people expect. Holiday weekends book fast; everything else is yours.

The best month to get married is the one where the date you want is actually available — and where your venue can make any season feel like the right one.
