Inside the Design: How Slate at Founders Tower Became Oklahoma City's Most Distinctive Luxury Venue

Slate Venue OKC

Some venues are decorated. Slate at Founders Tower was designed.

There's a difference — and the moment you step off the elevator onto the 20th floor of one of Oklahoma City's most iconic historic landmarks, you feel it. The richness of the palette. The way the teal pulls your eye toward the skyline. The balance of glamour and warmth that makes the space feel both grand and intimate at the same time. None of that happened by accident.

The man behind the vision is Brock Harrison, founder of Harrison Fabrics and Design — and we sat down with him to talk about what it takes to transform a round, open penthouse into Oklahoma City's premier luxury event venue.

From a Farm in Newcastle to the OKC Skyline

Brock grew up in Newcastle, Oklahoma, on a small farm — far from the world of velvet drapery and brass chandeliers. After studying interior design at UCO and launching his career with Drexel Heritage, he built his own design business and never looked back. The thread connecting all of it? A mother who made things beautiful with very little, and a son who never forgot it.

The World as a Creative Brief

Ask Brock where his ideas come from and he'll tell you: everywhere but here. Travel, food markets, art galleries, architecture in cities he's never been to before. That global perspective is exactly what Slate needed — a designer fearless enough to go bold when everyone else was going white.

The Challenge of the Penthouse

When Brock first walked into the Founders Tower penthouse, he saw what most designers would call a problem. A vast, round, open space filled with hard surfaces — stone, concrete, tile. No warmth. No intimacy. Just scale.

He saw something else entirely.

His two guiding principles: let the 360-degree panoramic views of the Oklahoma City skyline do the heavy lifting, and build a space versatile enough to host an intimate micro wedding and a 150-person corporate gala with equal elegance.

Why Teal. Why Bold. Why It Works.

While every other venue in OKC was going bright white, Brock went the other direction. Rich, saturated, moody. Velvet softened the hard edges. Brass, marble, wallpaper, and chandeliers added what he calls Hollywood glamour. The teal palette made the skyline pop rather than disappear into the walls.

The result is a space that feels masculine and feminine at the same time. Comfortable and commanding. Intimate and expansive. Exactly what a world-class luxury event venue in Oklahoma City should feel like.

Unique. Sexy. Diverse.

When asked to describe Slate in three words, Brock doesn't hesitate. For him the project was never just work — it was a labor of love, and he believes people feel that energy the moment they walk in. His hope is that Slate inspires guests the way a great hotel does — to want that same sense of elevated living in their own world.

We think it does exactly that.
